Glossier Phase 2 Set

Glossier Phase 2 Set

What better way to kick off my new blog with a quick Glossier review?! They launched their Phase 2 Set this past Monday, I placed my order and got my box on Wednesday. After I opened the shipping box (like a wild animal), I was faced with a glorious, magnetic-closure flapped white cardboard box. The packaging couldn't be more perfect, unlike my grammar in that last sentence.

Glossier's signature pink bubble wrap ziploc pouch housed all of my goodies, and a sticker sheet and poster were also included. (So excited I got more stickers, which means I can use the one sheet I got with my Phase 1 Set. I wanted to keep one sheet pristine. I know. I'm that weirdo.)

Since I got the Medium Skin Tint with the Phase 1 Set, I went with:

Medium - Stretch Concealer

Cake - Generation G Sheer Matte Lipstick

Brown - Boy Brow

I also decided to get the Light - Stretch Concealer. I figure it could be handy when needing more highlighting for these tired eyes. Here's a comparison of the two. They look pretty close in the jar, but very different on the skin. The Light has a cooler undertone.

 Top: Light; Bottom: Medium

The chrome-finished caps on the jars of concealer are fingerprint-proof! WHAT? Like totally smudge-proof. Every makeup line needs to put this finish on their shiny metal packaging. Amazing.

After cleansing with the Milky Jelly Cleanser, I applied the Priming Moisturizer and a very thin layer of the Skin Tint in Medium (Before pic). And then I just dabbed a little bit of the Medium Stretch Concealer under my eyes and just a touch on my lids (After pic). It has a very smooth, creamy, ever-so-slightly oily feel, but having dry skin, I welcomed it. After patting it in, there was no oiliness and I was left with a very natural look. Consistent with Glossier's vision, it is definitely a your skin but better moment.

You can see how the darkness at the outer corner of my eyes are subtly concealed. The outer corners are definitely my problem areas. While this didn't give me the most coverage of all my concealers, I liked the natural look to it. I'm going to try the Light next time and see if I can brighten up the eye area.

Check out my Instagram @40yroldvirgo for a Boy Brow pic. I've got some long-ass eyebrow hairs, so I am LOVING the Boy Brow. No stiffness - just gives them a little personality.

And while I like the Generation G Sheer Matte Lipstick, it's probably my least favorite of all the Glossier products I've tried. I'm impressed with how non-drying and how matte the lipstick is, for sure. But, I guess I'm just not wow'ed. It could be the color. I picked Cake and it may be a bit too orange-y for me.

I am just loving the Glossier products. It is the perfect 5-minute routine, no-makeup makeup look. Like an addict that's never satiated, I feel like I'm already impatiently waiting for their next release! Lip Gloss, perhaps?
