Jouer // Lip Cremes

I <3 the idea of a liquid lipstick, but the liquid lipstick does not always <3 me. I suffer from the occasional eczema on my face and it is usually concentrated on my top lip. And when I use products that are drying, I can usually feel my skin start to open up (sorry - gross - I don't know how else to describe it.) But, I get two types of eczema - the opening-up kind that starts to weep (so so gross - sorry again), and the other kind which are dry, textured, red patches that can sometimes itch and burn. The curious thing is that I never know what will bother my lip because it can change randomly. Some days a particular product will seem to bring out the eczema, and some days it doesn't. I'm realizing now that my eczema could be more seasonal allergy and diet related.

So I began my hunt for a liquid lipstick that wasn't so drying - one where I wouldn't feel like it would crack if I smiled, or chipped off by the end of the day. I landed on Jouer's Lip Cremes. I had heard some decent reviews, yet I was still skeptical. Being a... mature woman (is there a better term for that?!), I'm becoming particularly sensitive to products I feel could accentuate any type of dryness, wrinkles and texture. When they first launched, I went ahead and purchased two shades to try - Noisette and Praline.

 Noisette (natural light)

But after wearing Noisette for a full day, and then Praline the next day my skepticism was squashed! Both colors went on smoothly and evenly, and I didn't think they made my lips look especially wrinkled and dry.

They faded only a bit after an entire day of talking, smiling and eating. I was really impressed! So impressed that I stalked their IG feed for news on updates, then scrambled on their site to get the rest of the colors I was eyeing:

They all have a birthday cake scent which fades on the lips pretty quickly.

They're $18 each, which isn't terribly expensive, and if you sign up for their newsletter you'll get 25% off your first order! There's also free shipping for orders totaling over $50.
