April Favorites // Makeup
Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base
I love everything about this primer. The scent is fresh and light. The texture is also light, but rich all at the same time. And it has really made a difference in the longevity of my makeup. I got a deluxe sample of this and immediately bought a full-size during the VIB Sale. I'm totally hooked!
Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation // Shade 123
Every time I wear this foundation, I get compliments. It's very lightweight (it runs a little, but not totally watery) and has the most natural finish. It smooths out my skin and blurs any minor imperfections. I was a little weary at first because I'm usually very sensitive to SPF. This foundation has an SPF of 15, so I felt that was a good place for me to start. It's so comfortable with zero irritation. It's my go-to foundation now for an everyday low-maintenance look. AND, it has a pump dispenser. Why don't all foundations come with a pump?!
Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder Compacts // 01 Highlight & 02 Bronze
I love how perfectly subtle and natural these powders are. I was doing my makeup in front of a friend and she was so wow'ed by how she couldn't really tell what I did, but what a difference it had made. My face had warmth and glow without looking overdone. I'm sorry it took me so long to get these!
Bobbi Brown Art Sticks // Bare, Rich Nude & Rose Brown
The colors! The texture! The crayon form! I really love it all. It's like having a giant creamy lip liner. It's an all-in-one and couldn't be easier to apply. The finish is on the matte-side, but not liquid lipstick matte - it's very creamy, but with no shine. Very natural. (I guess I'm loving the natural everyday look these days.) And each stick comes with its own sharpener - very thoughtful addition!
Marc Jacobs Lip Gloss // Sugar Sugar & Pretty Thing
I just started buying Marc Jacobs products and so far I've been so so impressed. These lip glosses have just the slightest hint of mint, so it's by far not a plumper, just refreshing and a nice change from the overly used cakey dessert scent. The texture isn't especially tacky, and the pigmentation is exactly what I like in a lip gloss - something with a hint of color and still transparent, so it makes layering over a lip color easy. It doesn't get in the way of the base color and adds a wash of color and a touch of shine to the lips. I especially love adding these on top of the Art Sticks. Adds a pretty shine!
Ardency Inn MODSTER Eyeliner // Coffee
I may be doing something wrong, but this is the only crayon eyeliner I've found that doesn't move throughout the day. I love it. It's waterproof, and very easy to apply. I've been using the brown color the most as it gives a nice defined line, but is a lot less harsh than black. I use a small smudger brush and smudge out the line before it sets and it gives a lovely soft look.
Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon // Sunset
This Sunset color is the perfect gold. I've had one too many eye infections to put anything on my waterline, so I pretty much draw this along the base of my bottom lashes - that's as close as I can get. And it adds a lot of fun in a quick easy step. I love the smooth glide-on texture of this Gel eyeliner. It's smooth and you can smudge it out to soften the line.
Skindinavia // The Makeup Finishing Spray - Oil Control
I really had no idea what I was missing out on until I tried these sprays. I don't necessarily need oil control since I don't have very oily skin. But, I'm very concerned about wearing makeup during the hot and muggy NYC summers. So I opted for the oil control version, and it's amazing. I cannot believe how perfect my makeup still looks after 8 or 10 hours of wear, which includes taking the subway several times, sweating in overheated stores, freezing outside in the wind... blah blah :)
That's it! What were some of your favorites this past month? I'd love to hear your thoughts and maybe learn of some products I "need" to have.
