Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in beauty and style. Hope you have a nice stay!

Too Faced // Melted Liquified Matte Long Wear Lipstick

Whew. That's a long name! It's been such a weird obsession for me, but I've been endlessly searching for the perfect liquid lipstick. (I know, I know. I'm not the only one.) I'm not the fondest of a matte lip, and my dry lips usually detest them. But I cannot deny the benefit of a matte lip product's longevity. I never reapply makeup during the day. I'm too lazy, have forgotten to pack my makeup, or never get around to standing in front of a mirror to assess.

Anyway, when these launched at Sephora I thought I'd give them a shot. VIB Rouge members were also given access to an online exclusive colorway - On Point - which I had to try. It appeared to be a great deep, berry-toned, dark red. When I stopped into Sephora to check out some other colors, I picked up Cool Girl and Drop Dead Red. When I checked out, the SA informed me that these could also be used as blushes. WHAT?! My ears perked up and she explained that you could mix it with a primer to create a cream blush. But wait, I'm getting ahead of myself.

First, here are some pics of the three colors on my lips.

The first thing I realized is that these do not have any scent. Maybe the slightest sort of generic "makeup" scent, but nothing overpowering or sweet or food-like. I have to say - I appreciate that. I'm not the biggest fan of that sweet, vanilla, cocoa, birthday cake smell. I much prefer a clean, citrus scent, like the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks. But really, I just like nothing.

The other thing I love is the packaging. The box it came in had a matte finish with the drippy effect at the bottom - so cool, so Kylie. And the actual tube isn't cylindrical. It flattens at the bottom. So they won't fit into a traditional lip gloss holder, but they also won't roll off the counter when you put them down. I like!

Onto the actual lipstick! It's a lot thinner and lighter in texture than I thought. It's not very creamy or moussey. The lighter shade, Cool Girl, went on much more smoothly than the darker colors. On Point and Drop Dead Red both seemed a little bit thicker and harder to spread. But eventually all went on evenly.

They made my lips look a little dry as they settled into the lines, but for a light formula that's expected.

It was very comfortable on the lips. I wore the Cool Girl colorway for about 5 hours and didn't feel like my lips turned into prunes by the end. However, they also didn't stay on as long as other liquid lipsticks I've tried, like Jouer and Ofra. But, I suppose that's the trade-off. A lighter, comfortable formula would naturally mean not quite as long-lasting. But don't get me wrong - these lasted a heckuva lot longer than a traditional lipstick and definitely any kind of lipgloss.

All in all, I really like them. I do wish they would come out with more neutral, natural colors. I like these deep reds, but I probably won't find much of an occasion to wear them during these Spring/Summer months.

OK, now as a blush!! I swiped the lipstick on the back of my hand and pumped a bit of the Marc Jacobs Perfecting Coconut Face Primer on top. I mixed it up with my finger and then dabbed it onto my cheeks.

Not bad! And who knew?! Because it stays pretty tacky, I dabbed some Laura Mercier Translucent Powder on top and voila!

I'm not sure how often I'll do this, but it is definitely a cool idea! Thanks Sephora!
