I had stopped into Barneys during their Beauty Bag Event and wandered over to the Bellatorra counter. Exclusive to Barneys, this luxury anti-aging skincare line is based on their proprietary 48-hour delivery system of its active ingredients, Torra48. Since they were offering a generous gift with purchase, I purchased their Anti-Aging Eye Cream and Cellular Renewal Mask and received a full-size of their Exfoliating Facial Cleanser valued at $95 (I think this GWP is still going on). In addition, the Barneys' Beauty Bag included a very generously-sized deluxe sample of their Cellular Renewal Cream.
The beautiful SA explained how to use the Mask and Cleanser and off I went, armed with my new goodies. I've been using these products religiously since I got them. The one item I don't think I can live without is their Eye Cream. I have discoloration around my eyes, but I've always had them, and I think they're very normal. I don't have extra dark circles under my eyes, or at least that's not what I'm neurotic about (don't burst my bubble). But, what I do have is puffiness under my eyes which have been getting worse and worse with every passing year. I wish I was set up to take time lapse photos, but take my word for it: the puffiness under my eyes have gone down drastically. (They've made reappearances after eating a lot of salt, but what do I expect?!) And the discoloration around my eyes have definitely faded. They're not completely gone, but it's definitely better.
I love the texture of the eye cream too. It's not too thin, but not too thick. It absorbs quickly and leaves a very smooth finish and my skin feels moisturized. It comes in a glass bottle with a pump and 0.50 fl. oz. for $240.
I really enjoy both the Exfoliating Facial Cleanser and Cellular Renewal Mask. Both are effective, smell GREAT - very fruity - and do what they say. Because my skin is sensitive and can act crazy when using new products, I only use the Cleanser about once every other day. And, the SA told me not to use the Mask more than once a week.
The Cleanser has a thin consistency, like liquid soap, and doesn't lather up.
After massaging it in for awhile you'll start to see very small bubbles form, but it's far from a poofy lather. Cleansers that foam are usually drying in my experience, so I was happy to see that this didn't lather and foam up. My skin felt clean, bright and firm without any dryness. It also smells so good - a grapefruit citrus-y scent. So refreshing! This also comes in a glass bottle with pump with 3.72 fl. oz. of product for $95.
The Cellular Renewal Mask is pretty magical. The SA showed me how to use it on my hand. It starts out as a gelatin.
You apply a layer of it all over and start to rub it into the skin in circular motions. After about a minute, it starts to break down and becomes very liquidy, almost water-like.
Once it breaks down into liquid, it will start to ball up and take dead skin cells with it.
Once it feels like all the product has balled up, perhaps another minute, rinse it all away with warm water. My skin felt very refreshed and incredibly smooth, but not dry or tight. The Mask comes in a glass jar with 1.7 fl. oz. for $125
Last, but not least, I gave their Cellular Renewal Cream a try. I used it every night for a couple of weeks, but had to move back to my La Mer Cream. While I liked it, I didn't love it as much as my La Mer. I began using it as a day cream and after applying a pretty generous layer, I always felt like I had to put on more.
Granted, I have very dry skin. But the texture of it had me thinking it would rival La Mer. It's quite lovely, but it's not a replacement.
All in all, I have to say that I'm very impressed. It takes a lot for me to be impressed with a few products from one skincare line. As soon as I need more facial mist, I'll be running back and getting their Uplifting Mist. If you're into fruity scents, like I am, this is the one for you. Every time I stop into Barneys, I swing by the counter for a little spritz. It wakes me up!
My only complaint (aside from the prices) is the packaging. I like that everything is in glass, and I like the pump dispensers. What I don't like are the plastic caps which have all cracked, and the top heavy shape of their taller bottles. I've tipped them over, and have actually broken (noooo!!!) the facial cleanser.
