September Favorites // Makeup
By my last post, you could have predicted where most of my favorites would be coming from: the Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Collection. Many of the products have been my go-to since I purchased them earlier in the month. It has really struck the right "pre-fall" note. It's not quite all-out dramatic, although it could be, and with just a few items it's successfully given the feel of having a complete look, but not overdone. Unfortunately, many of these items have sold out online already, but I know you can probably find a few in store. (Please refer to my previous post here for swatches and more pictures of the items from this collection.)
Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Morning Aura Illuminating Creme
I've learned a light layer of this creme is enough. The first few times I applied this, I put on a generous layer and ended up looking like a shiny mess halfway through my day. But now that I know a light hand is needed, and I wear it with my Armani powder foundation, it ends up giving me the perfect glow. My normally dry skin has been acting very combination this past hot summer, so I was surprised how shiny I looked. If you have very oily skin, I don't know if this product would be for you.
This powder is simply amazing. It's not cakey or drying and really blurs my skin to an airbrushed finish. I've gotten so many compliments on my skin with this combination (paired with the Creme). And during these hot sweaty late Summer months, it's helped control any oily spots without drying out others.
Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Highlighter // Modern Mercury
I don't think anyone could argue that this is one of the best highlighters out there. I've been using it as a blush and highlighter and it's given me the most spectacular satiny sheen.
Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Lip Gloss and Pencil
I've really been loving this combo of lip products - I'll use the pencil all over and then layer on the gloss for a little juicy touch. The gloss is a bit sticky upon application, but becomes less sticky fairly quickly. It's not long-lasting by any means, but when worn over the lip pencil, it almost seals the pencil in. And I love how it comes in a click brush applicator. I've really been loving brush applicators for glosses!
Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Eyeshadow Palette
I love the 3 neutral brown shades in this palette. I'll use the light shade all over the lid, the middle shade on the outer third of my eyes, and then use the darker shade as a liner and blend it out at the edges of my eyes. It really gives a soft, subtle, smokey look which has been great for daytime wear.
I was watching Wayne Goss's Ride Or Die video on YouTube and he mentioned this lip gloss. I had never been tempted to buy any of Tom Ford's glosses, so I thought I'd give this a shot. The shade is absolute perfection. It has just a enough shimmers to give the lips some dimension and it's definitely a glossy gloss. It's fairly sticky, dries down a bit, but is definitely a gloss. It doesn't set and will wear off after eating. But I love the brush applicator, a surprise to me, and the color is beautifully feminine.
This lip product is so special, I really don't know where to start. The texture is so interesting - it has a silicone base, but also has oils for conditioning and is so so comfortable on the lips. It gives lips a kind of vinyl-y shine without it being glossy and while it's not long-wearing, it won't wear off as quickly as a gloss. It's really so special and unique. It must be tried to believe! I hope they come out with more neutral colors. The No. 12 is the only one that suits me for everyday wear, but if you're into bright and deep reds, and pinks, you'll definitely find something!
Well I for one am very excited that Fall is here and the weather is starting to cool down, and the days are getting a bit shorter. My urge for darker lips and more dramatic makeup is starting to grow!
