Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in beauty and style. Hope you have a nice stay!

Viseart // Petit Pro Palette

Viseart // Petit Pro Palette

Lately I have come to really appreciate mini-sized makeup. I'm always swept away when I see a big palette with so many colors and fancy packaging. But the truth is, I know I'll never hit pan on most of the colors and I end up not reaching for them often because they are so big and unwieldly. And, I definitely don't travel with them.

When Viseart released this limited-edition petite palette, I literally bounced in my seat and waited impatiently for Muse Beauty Pro to open up pre-ordering on their site. Viseart quality has never let me down, and I have quite a few of their palettes, so I was EXCITED to try these out. And it's diminutive size really called to me. (As an important aside, a shout-out to Muse Beauty Pro's shipping. Not only was it fast via FedEx, but they packaged it so carefully in bubble wrap.)

The cardboard packaging is almost identical to their Theory Palettes. The pans sit in a plastic magnetized casing and can easily pop out if you want to put them in your own palette. And hopefully they'll come out with more versions and you'll be able to swap pans between palettes. There's also a little mirror inside, and the palette slips in and out of a cardboard cover.

The size of the palette is the size of a business or credit card, and below is a comparison photo with one of Viseart's regular 12-pan eyeshadows. The total weight of this palette is 1/3 the total weight of a regularly-sized palette according to the Muse Beauty Pro site.

There are four matte shades (top row) and four shimmer shades (bottom row):

When I finger-swatched them they felt soft and silky, but seemed a little patchy. But when I brush swatched them, I saw the Viseart quality come through. Absolute perfection. No fallout, pigmented, soft and silky but no powder kick-up. Below are brush swatches onto my arm with some NARS Smudgeproof Eye Primer laid down first:

I was curious about how similar these shadows are to their existing 12-pan shadows and did a few comparison swatches with their shimmer shades. All of the matte shades are cooler than the shades in their Neutral Matte palette.

Here I compared the lightest shimmer in the Petit Pro Palette to two others I thought were similar from the Sultry Muse and Paris Nudes Palettes. While they are similar, they're not the same by any means:

The second, golden shimmer in the Petit Pro Palette had no comparable shades in the palettes I owned, so I went straight to the third coppery toned shimmer and compared it to two others I thought were similar:

Again, very similar shades, but nothing identical. And finally I compared the last cranberry shimmer shades to two others in the Sultry Muse and Bijoux Royal Palettes. Here the Bijoux Royal shades is pretty much identical:

All in all, I feel this palette is a must have. It's travel-sized and fairly inexpensive at $30. If you've never tried Viseart shadows before, this is a great gateway! I am not a makeup artist, and shadow application can sometimes elude me. But these Viseart shadows take away all the guesswork and make creating a look easy and fun!! Here is a look I created with the first two lighter mattes, and then the light taupey shimmer and cranberry shimmer.

I hope that review was helpful in deciding whether or not you want this palette. If you do, run don't walk as this is limited edition. I'm pretty sure I'll be purchasing a backup! xoxo
